Work Permit Procedure

You will normally need to be in one of the following situations to have working visa in Country you wish to work:

  1. Have the right to work based on ancestry/nationality or based on having a partner from that Country.
  2. Have a valid work permit or visa that allows you to work. Normally, it would be the employer who applies for this, and is also called your sponsor.
  3. Have a temporary or permanent working visa that allows you to work. This is normally based on your skills, qualifications and work experience.

Some common examples of working visa categories that allow you to work abroad are covered below:

  • USA H1B Visa
  • UK Highly Skilled Migrant Programme
  • Australia Skilled Migration
  • New Zealand Skilled Migration
  • Canada Skilled Worker Programme
  • UK Visa under the Association Agreement
  • Indian Employment Pass (for Non Indian Citizens)
  • Other Countries Work Permits

Usually every country has a different process and set of rules for granting work permits. The applicant (you) have to first find and contact your employer or sponsor for application of work permit. Then, based on that job offer, you apply for a work visa to the embassy from within your country. Usually applicants confuse work permits with work visas. Granting of work permits does NOT guarantee that you will also be given a work visa to work and travel in the respective country. Usually there is an interview at the embassy, based on which the visa officer takes a decision on your work visa application.

At Wesley’s we guide you completely with the process and assist you with application of work permits and work visas.
