University Web sites and other academic Wesley’s counsellors will provide quick and convenient access to the required application forms, but you still need time to research your options, contact teachers and institutions to provide recommendations and transcripts, and sign up for required entrance exams in time to meet application deadlines.
Certain misconceptions about studying in the USA:
- It is too expensive: One thing that cannot be denied is that, if an international student is using foreign funds to pay for his education costs in the USA, he or she is affected by fluctuations in currency exchange rates. However, it is a misnomer that attending college or university in the USA is extremely expensive. Given the quality of the education, the potential earning power of working in the USA, as well as the various forms of aid available to students, an American education is still affordable. While there are some schools that are notorious for charging high fees, there are many schools offering great programs for much less. The key is to know how to pick the school that is right for you.
- SATs are mandatory: SATs are not at all compulsory for many undergraduate courses in many universities, unless you are looking for scholarships and bursaries.
- GMAT is mandatory for MBA: It is not essential that you appear for a GMAT for many top, public and private Universities in the USA. Universities assess your application on your academic scores and at times telephonic interviews.
- Work Experience is required for MBA: It is possible to get into many US Universities without any previous work experience as well. Many students think it is compulsory to have work experience for all universities to get into MBA.

When to submit your application, when and how to apply for a US student visa and English language requirements are just some of the questions international students face when wanting to study in the USA.
